
Monica Felder is a Board Certified Health Law attorney whose practice concentrates on representation of physicians and other health care providers in licensing and disciplinary matters with the Florida Department of Health, as well as hospitals in risk management, credentialing, peer review and regulatory matters. Prior to starting her own firm (Felder Health Law) and serving as Of-Counsel to Mirza Healthcare Law Partners, Ms. Felder was Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer at Mount Sinai Medical Center. She started her career as a prosecutor for the Board of Medicine and AHCA, and then was an Assistant Attorney General, representing health care boards.
Ms. Felder served on the Executive Council of the Health Law Section of the Florida Bar for many years, and served as the Chair of the Executive Council in 2013-2014. She was a license Risk Manager, and served on the Board of Directors of the Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management and Patient Safety from 2011-2013.
Ms. Felder is a frequent speaker and author on a variety of health care topics, including actions by AHCA and the Department of Health, Practitioner Profiling, Hospital and Physician Office Incident Reporting, EMTALA, compliance with the Baker Act by psychiatric facilities, and Credentialing and Peer Review in Hospitals. For many years, she wrote a recurring column entitled “Board Update” in the Florida Medical Business newspaper on the activities of the Board of Medicine, which was sent directly to all Florida licensed physicians.
